What is it?

Homebrewed is an experimental visual novel experience where everything is dynamically generated by an AI storyteller. You pick the scenario, you choose what to say, and the AI will do the rest. You can do anything.

"Want to go on a grand adventure on a pirate ship?"

Easy.

"Want to rob a McDonald's?"

Yeah you can do that.

"Want to be a little rat looking for some cheese in the big city?"

Definitely.

Controls

• Space to fast forward and continue messages.
• ESC to pause
• Tab to force open you're own message box (especially if stuck, sometimes you can give the AI a bit of a shove)
• Refresh Location button to poke the AI to re-generate the location

Requirements

• You must have a working OpenAI API key and account. The storyteller AI uses the latest gpt4o model. The API key can be pasted in the main menu. https://platform.openai.com/api-keys
• 6-10 GB of space for stable diffusion setup - a google drive link and instructions will be provided with download. Or available here.
• Very little setup besides extracting a zip file.
• Requires a pretty solid GPU/CPU, still works with  lesser ones but assets can take longer to load.

This game is experimental! The dialogue and artwork are generated by  AI.  While I strive for high quality and coherence, the AI's responses and art may occasionally be unpredictable or unconventional. Things may go wrong. If you get stuck, don't be afraid to reset the game. Updates will most likely happen. Caution: Some content generated by the AI may not always be suitable for all audiences. Player discretion is advised.
